Bridal Trends

As a designer/manufacturer in the world of bridal jewellery I find that the trend of 2011 is, "SIMPLE", it's coming back slowly… The halo of diamonds around the center stone that we've been seeing for the past several years is still strong, but simple thin types of micro pave set diamonds down the shoulders/sides of a rings is the way to go. Women are slowly realizing that an engagement ring should look and feel simple to have that timeless beauty. As opposed to all the glitz and clutter which should be saved for the dinner/cocktail ring down the road. Showing the beauty of the center diamond is the way to go.

Cut is also a factor when it comes to a diamond. Your modern day girl is much more aware of diamonds than ever before. She is looking for that Ideal/Excellent cut, well-made diamond no matter what size or shape it is. Whereas before it was just a diamond and she didn't know the difference. As far as shape, the leader of them all is still the round brilliant cut, next in line is the princess cut and making a strong come back for that circa classic look is the cushion cut. Cushion cuts are in demand more than ever, but of course if they don't have that excellent make to them they don't tend to sparkle right. A perfect square shape cushion is what ladies prefer today. And for the rest of the shape's …take a pick whose next. Overall the modern day girl does not just wanting a rock anymore, she wants that well-made diamond complimenting with that simple elegant timeless engagement ring no matter what shape or size.

Personalities and diamonds are slowly starting to come around. Diamonds somewhat tell you what type of woman she is. A round diamond is going to say that this girl has a classy yet has a simple side to her. These girls tend to have that simple thin solitaire. Princess cuts distinguish straight lines, this girl looks at life with perfection and attention to detail, she will compliment her ring with sleek lines and perhaps side diamonds. A cushion cut diamond girl is somewhat your old school kind of girl (circa 1900's) who still relies on grandmas words of wisdom. (LOL) This lady definitely wants a halo of diamonds on her engagement ring. And for the rest of the shapes such as Radiant and Emerald cut, these stones are in demand from that older more sophisticated lady who has reached her Plato or dreams in life and is usually 2.00ct and up range (oversize diamond) and want to set themselves apart from the rest of the crowd. And for the heart shape, oval, marquis and the rest of the diamonds.
